TARIKA : SON EGAL

ADY (Fight)

(Rasoanaivo/Randriamanantena/Tarika)

This song was written to capture the styles of two great musicians who are both now dead. Parson, who came from the north west of Madagascar, was the king of jijy (the traditional Malagasy rapping style of singing). He died leaving no recordings available for the public to buy. You don't even hear his work on the radio any more. The great and legendary marovany player Rakotozafy came from the east of Madagascar and also died in a mysterious way. Some of his recordings have been re-issued by GlobeStyle Records.

Kawding, Hanitra and Massamba
Kawding, Hanitra and Massamba

Oiii (she always fights with me), Oiii.../She always fights with me, my mother in law (if it hurts)/If it hurts, just fight back, my son in law.

I hate it, I hate it/When a man is cheating/He has another beautiful girl somewhere/He hides all his salary/I discovered a ticket in his pocket/The perfume on his clothing became too much/I searched through his things/I found a secret love letter/I kicked him out of the door to go away.

I hate women who leave the house/I hate women who joke/at night, they are strolling/During the day, they are really soft/But about 8 o'clock in the evening/All the young girls come out/Analakely is their meeting point/Strolling around the main road/Crossing the light, with their mini-skirts/They look as if they are pretty/If you approach them you will have a good time.

But my brother made a vow/"I don't want to marry yet/Because women are also cheating/They bring a horrible disease/It will lead me to death/It is no longer a secret but well known/They all look like angels/But they are strolling girls/They get their clients, even foreigners/AIDS is already growing/It will kill me so I won't do it!"/Dad , Mum... Oiii...
